Sublime Transforms this Wynnum Kitchen
HIA 2013 Brisbane Kitchen Design of the Year features Modernization, integration, and functionality were the three aspects that rested at the heart of this transformation.
Working with a beautiful double-storey home with remarkable views out to Moreton Bay that were best captured from the kitchen. The owners start their day watching the sun rise over the bay while eating breakfast in the kitchen, where all the planning, preparation and execution of their activities occur, so this was an integral element to consider for the redesign. The old space was dated and did not function well nor was a reflection of how the current owners lived in their home.
Ultimately, the aim of the transformation was to better utilise space, increase flow and make the most out of the house’s positioning to highlight its focal areas. A functional layout for both day to day activities and entertaining was integral throughout planning, design, and execution.
The dateless colour palette, distinctive appliances and sharp, clean lines give this kitchen a level of sophistication that is often aspired to in modern spaces but hard to achieve.
The new space is featuring Calcutta marble splashback, glass drawer and doors and funky Elica rangehood.
An innovative feature of this new space is the accent lighting. The back wall showcases this with energy efficient LED lighting around the feature perimeter frame that has a mirrored surround (gives the illusion that it is floating), adds a funky, artsy vibe that helps the space transition depending on the mood.
